Outside the square

Einstein said you can never solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it. And so often we find our answers when we look outside the square, don’t we. There are many times I’ve found myself in situations that don’t seem to have any answers. But I’ve come to realise that perhaps it just seems that way because I am caught in the same pattern of thoughts. And I can’t see the answer even when it’s there right in front of me staring me in the face.

For years I’ve been stuck with an issue that I believed had no easy solution. And out of the pain of frustration last week I chose to look into this problem from another perspective. I simply asked ‘what if…’ and stayed open to the answer. An open mind is a wondrous tool, isn’t it. And I smile as the powers that be responded and brought people into my path that wouldn’t have otherwise been there. People who could help me find the solutions I so fervently sought. Incredibly the answer came. I kind of just tripped over it. A solution so much easier than I ever dreamed possible. All it took was for me to become open to new information. And be willing to embrace new possibilities.

If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always got. I don’t know who said it, but how true it is. And I’ve come to realise that to solve our problems a subtle shift may be all that’s needed. Because when we look back the answers are often so simple, aren’t they, and it is only us that complicates things…
